MARKET OVERVIEW
China 's nation-wide urban rail transit infrastructure construction has entered into a rapid development era. According to
statistics from China National Development and Reform Commission and China Ministry of Construction, China
invested US$25 billion in metro construction and completed 550 kilometers of urban rail lines during 2001-2005.
By 2015, about 2,200 kilometers of metro and light rail lines will be completed to take over more urban passenger flow
in cities' transit than ever before. What a prosperous market!
China 's urban transit modernization also gains its momentum from some very important events such as 2008 Beijing
Olympics and 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Take Shanghai for example, the municipal government has planned to
complete 12 urban rail lines with the total length of more than 500 kilometers by 2010 and to construct other 780km
lines in 20-30 years. Up to date, more than 20 cities are constructing or planning to construct urban rail transit systems
in China .
